It was great to see you for conferences! This week I will pull together any promised answers to your questions, information or resources requested. Thanks for your patience! I’ll get back to you soon! Survey request from Mr. Wilson: We believe that the school and parent partnership is essential to your child's education. The survey results will be posted and used to guide conversations and plans with our staff to best meet you and your student’s needs. Huge thanks to the PTSA for covering half the cost of this activity for all of our fourth grade students! Notification forms went home in today's green folder with a request for a check for $8 and volunteer opportunity for this engaging student-hands-on learning! Cans and Coins Holiday Giving Campaign (by PTSA) for the Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank. (see attached flyer) Dance Man: this annual event is on Friday, December 11th. K, 1 & 2 at 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Grades 3, 4, & 5 at 7:00pm - 8:00pm. Pizza and drinks will be for sale throughout the evening. As part of the giving season, we will be collecting donations of canned goods and new socks for the homeless, please consider contributing. Volunteers are needed during the week to help with the practice sessions as well as a few for the night of the event - please contact [email protected] if you can help make this a fabulous event. Dress your student for winter weather! We go out to recess even if it is cold so make sure your kids come to school with jackets, hats, appropriate winter footwear and gloves. November/December book report: Mystery - electronic copy attached to this newsletter. Final report due December 17th. Students should be bringing their book and packet back and forth to school every day! Snowman pieces for the final report are now available in class! December volunteer calendar: is attached to this week's email. The December calendar required a lot of changes to work around no school days and conferences - please let me know if you need any adjustments or can't be here on your day. Coming Up This Week in Class: We are starting math Topic 7 (Multiplying by two-digit numbers), introducing opinion writing, launching our Storypath study of NW Coast Native Americans, creating a NW Coast Ecosystem "Frieze", rehearsing our mystery RT pieces, and sharing our Cindy stories with our 2nd grade buddies! As I won't be sending a newsletter next week, I’ll take this opportunity to wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving. I am so grateful to work with your wonderful children in this supportive community. I hope you enjoy some quality time with your families this Thanksgiving! See you at conferences! Our goal this week: Reflect on 1st Trimester Learning and set appropriate 2nd Trimester goals. No Weekly Updates this week or next week! Washington State topographical map due on Wed, 11/18. This is a fantastic project for your family! I hope you will take on the challenge with your fourth grader!! Assignment packets went home in last week’s Monday green folder. Students completed a colored rough draft in class, which should be in their binders. At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
