Students observed and recorded crayfish structures and behaviors, then used their "scientist eyes" to draw realistic crayfish illustrations. After completing a first draft, students worked in groups to give one another specific, helpful suggestions for how to improve in 2nd and 3rd drafts. Great perseverance, 4th graders! |

A draft of the parent-teacher conference schedule is attached to this week's email. If you have not yet reserved a time, please check the available appointment time and let me know which would work best for you. I'm looking forward to sharing your child’s 1st Trimester progress. Students will not be participating in the conferences. If students need to accompany parents, they may read or draw quietly in the hallway. Conferences are scheduled for 20 minutes.

As part of the giving season, we will be collecting donations of canned goods and new socks for the homeless, please consider contributing.

Washington State topographical map due on Wed, 11/18. This is a fantastic project for your family! I hope you will take on the challenge with your fourth grader!! Assignment packets went home in last week’s Monday green folder. The mystery word is: omnivore. Students completed a colored rough draft in class, which should be in their binders. Coming Up This Week in Class: We are completing the Topics 1-4 math benchmark test, continuing math Topic 5 (Multiplying by one-digit numbers), conferencing on finished Titanic narratives, writing and revising Cinderella stories, measuring water quality in our model ecosystems, reading more about changes to ecosystems, and reflecting on first trimester learning!
