I look forward to seeing you tonight (9/28) for 4th grade Curriculum Night! The presentation starts at 6:30 in the MPR before moving to individual classrooms. If you are unable to attend, I'll send home the materials with your child tomorrow. Our goal this week: Get my fantasy book approved by Friday. Some items in this Monday's take-home folder: Sign and return: Weekly update (green), Photo order form (optional), Reading log (in binders) Review and keep at home: Math practice pages, math fact tests, Couch Potato fundraising info Important Dates: 9/28 Curriculum Night (grades K, 2, 4,) 10/8 PTSA Walk-a-thon (4th graders wear purple…. Superhero theme) 11/11 No School - Veteran's Day 11/20, 23&24 Parent Conferences Class Directory and Parent Input: I'd love to finish the directory to send home in next week's Monday folders! If you haven't already done so, please fill out the Directory and Parent Input forms online. Thank you! Fantasy Book Report: Our book report for October is Fantasy! Students should have the packet in their binders and bring their book back and forth to school every day. For more information and examples, see the project page on the website. Individual picture day: is this Wednesday. Optional order forms went home in the Monday folders today. Reading Forum for young readers: with SVSD educator Jan Formisano, Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. in MPR. Learn tips and games to hold kids' interest, and receive a packet of flash cards to cut out, word lists and more. Free babysitting! RSVP at 831-8424. Coming Up This Week in Class: We are continuing math Topic 2 (Generating and Analyzing Patterns), finishing our non-fiction piece about the Titanic, continuing our map skills unit, planning and writing our own Titanic narrative stories, practicing correct use of tricky words (homonyms), and (finally) starting our first readers' theater of the year! At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
