Students' tie-dyed shirts will be going home today, clean and ready to wear on the last day of school!
Dear 4th Grade Families,

Please join your children on their LAST day of fourth grade for a
Movin’ up Readers' Theater presentation
Wednesday, June 17   8:45 – 9:15 am Room 19
Extended families and siblings welcome!
We’ll just squeeze together for the fun!!
They are movin’ up to fifth grade! 
Come and celebrate!!
 

Our goal for the week:  "Finish the year with safe and respectful choices."

Mon 6/15:

- Green folders go home, and do not return. No signatures required!

Tues 6/16:  
-  (optional) yearbook signing - bring yearbook to school
-  1:30 CVES 3rd-5th Awards Ceremony

Wed 6/17 - last day of school!
- Wear tie-dyed shirt to school!
- No binders or backpacks!
-  Room 19 Movin' Up Celebration 8:50 – 9:15 am (parents invited for Readers' Theater performance)
-  Movin' Up School Assembly 9:30
-  11:25 am dismissal
-  3rd trimester portfolios go home in large manila envelopes
-  Check lost and found!

This week in class we're:  finding out about summer King County Library programs, signing t-shirts and yearbooks (optional), presenting school uniform opinion slideshows, practicing Readers' Theater with our 2nd grade buddies, visiting a 5th grade classroom, hosting 3rd graders as they visit our classroom, putting together 3rd trimester portfolios, attending award and Movin' Up assemblies, the mystery word is perseverance, performing Readers' Theater for families on Wednesday, and cleaning out desks, cubbies, and binders!

At the Pacific Science Center's Butterfly House, students tried to coax the butterflies to land on their hands, while being careful to protect the delicate insects from the oils on their hands by not exposing them to palms or fingertips. Dear 4th grade families, 

Whew!  We have another busy week ahead in 4th grade as the end of the year rapidly approaches!

FIELD DAY:  June 10th, 2015             Wear purple!!
Dress for fun in the sun and bring a water bottle!!
Wednesday BBQ  4th grade eats at 11:00 – 11:45 am
(The BBQ is open to families the “Field Day” is a CVES student ONLY event)
10:40 – 11:25     Kindergarten
11:00-11:45        4th
11:15-12:00        3rd
11:30-12:15        1st
11:45-12:30        5th (load Buses to Middle Schools at 12:35)
12:00-12:45        2nd


Goal for the Week: Finish my final research report by the end of the day Tuesday.

   *Morning shift 8:30-11:00 (Grades 3-5)
   *Afternoon shift 12:50-2:55 (Grades K-2)
   *Or, All Day Fun!
(Field day will not interfere with the BBQ, so you will be able to eat with your child.)  Contact Julie Lewis at julielewis@comcast.net to volunteer.
We need a lot of volunteers for this to be a successful day! The mystery word is: amendment

Lost and Found: We need your help in getting our lost and found back home!  Please take a minute to come and look for any items that your child may have lost.

Coming Up This Week in Class:  We're  taking our government test, completing a final research writing project in-class, preparing for a poetry read, rehearsing a final Readers' Theater performance, writing end-of-the year thank yous, celebrating motion with field day, enjoying a BBQ with families, learning about the human brain, making t-shirts to wear on the last day of school, and appreciating our volunteers!

    At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will  be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading.
