Empty Monday Folder due back every Tuesday
Goal for the Week: No new updates until after Thanksgiving break!
Coming up this week in class: We're continuing Walk-to-Math learning, reading about skeletons, finishing our Off the Map study of WA State Geography and map skills, launching a new science topic, and browsing the book fair!
Book Fair: Big change this year: KIDS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO COME IN AT RECESS OR LUNCH! Our class date for visiting the fair is Thursday, 11/16 and kids are allowed to bring money to make a purchase on that day.
Kids are welcome before and after school to browse and/or make a purchases as well.
On-line book Fair will be open 11/9-11/22 for those who can’t make it to the book fair or want to order online. The mystery word is contrast. Books will be delivered to the school and be given to classroom teachers.

Washington Topo Map: This wonderful hands-on geography project is optional but highly encouraged for our class. Students should have a rough draft and green direction packet in their binders. More information and pictures of examples can be found on the Project Page of the website!
Multiplication and Division Morning Help: As our walk-to-math students work hard to master 2-digit x 2-digit multiplication and long division during the upcoming math topics, those students who need a little extra help are invited to come in at 8:40am for extra practice (the teachers will be available to students from all the walk-to-math/homeroom classes). All students should be practicing math facts at school and at home right now – multiplication and division fact fluency are essential for success in 4th grade math!
Tuesday at 8:40: Ms. Larson
Thursday at 8:40: Ms. Bernardo
Friday at 8:40: Mrs. Gose
* Mrs. Heinz-Betts will continue with her regular morning math class on Tues & Thurs
Students who take the bus can come straight to math as soon as the bus arrives, and students who eat breakfast at school can grab their breakfast quickly and bring it with to math. There will be no extra morning math class on conference days as teachers will be meeting with parents at that time.
Volunteer Opportunities: Thank you for your support! Our classroom calendar is here: http://signup.com/go/bKMtZZx and shows Spots for those who volunteered for recurring volunteer times for the year. I appreciate all the folks who volunteered for at-home correcting! Thanks, again, for all you do to support children, teachers and learning!
Please visit our 4th grade blog…. http://cves4.weebly.com/
Homework: Please check the binder reminder (located in the front of the binder) to support your child’s homework habits. It is also posted on our classroom blog daily.
In our partnership to ensure success for your child, good communication is critical. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at larsone@svsd410.org. I’d love to hear from you and look forward to working with you this year.
With thanks,
Emily Larson
