| Students researched, created and presented WA Region projects in a variety of formats. Very impressive work, fourth graders! |
We're still working hard this week in 4th grade. In class we'll continue to discuss what best effort and focus look like, even on a week when everyone is excited about the upcoming break and exciting family activities!
Our goal for this week: " Study for my Wednesday WA Geography Test. "
Folders will be coming home tomorrow (Tuesday) instead of today - I goofed and left the kids' updates and WA Region scores at home. Many apologies for the switch.
Some items in this Tuesday's take-home folder:
Sign and return: Weekly Update, December Reading Log (in binders), sign and return math scores (for some classes)
Review and keep at home: Math fact tests, Math practice pages (varies by walk-to-math class), Message in a Bottle writing and art, Titanic writing and art, Their/They're/There art, oil pastel projects from art specialist, WA region project and presentation scores
Fantasy Book Reports: Due Wednesday, 12/17.
The Optional WA Topographic Map optional Project is due on Tuesday, Dec 16 OR Tuesday, January 6, 2015. This project is an effective way for students to reinforce their learning. By creating a three-dimensional clay (play-doh or model magic) map showing the elevations, regions, important bodies of water, major cities, and boundaries of Washington State, students learn-by-doing.
Box Top Fundraiser: Please turn in any box tops to the collection box at the front of the school, with the student's name, grade and class marked on the paper, baggie, or envelope. The mystery word is: remainder. Last day for box top turn-in is 2/13/15. Thank you for supporting our CVES learning community!
One Voice Holiday Giving Campaign:
All the donations together filled up four SUV's, with some extra left over! Our kids have an amazing spirit of kindness and generosity. Thanks for supporting our fabulous CUB community by spreading a spirit of giving! The fourth grade will be having a hot cocoa party (date/details TBD) as a reward for collecting the most items.
December volunteer calendar: is attached to this week's email. Please let me know if you need any adjustments or can't be here on your day. Thanks again for all you do to support our class's learning - we couldn't do it without you!!!
Attendance Hotline: If your child will be missing school or tardy for any reason, please be sure to call the attendance hotline: 425-831-4108. The mystery word is: dialogue. Due to changes in the district's policy, if a student is absent and the attendance line has not been called, our school secretaries are required to call all the emergency contact numbers in that student's file until they can find a reason for the absence. Please call the attendance line!
