In the spirit of fun with our Walk-a-Thon, we will be having our first CVES spirit week of the year!! Monday, October 9th: Crazy Socks Day Tuesday, October 10th: PJ Day Wed, October 11th: Hawaiian Day Thurs. October 12th: Rocker PURPLE Day (Walk-a-Thon Day) Friday October 13th: Sports Day Walk-a-thon fundraising envelopes and directions went home already! Important Dates: 10/4 Last day for online Walkathon donations to earn the DONUT PARTY! 10/9 Last Day for October Book Orders 10/12 Walk-a-thon (from 10 – 11:15 am for 4th grade) WEAR PURPLE! 10/16 All Walkathon envelopes due Monday Take Home Folders/Return to School every Tuesday: Sign and Return: Signed and tallied October Reading Log (in binders), Signed and completed September Reading Log, Signed Weekly Update/Goal Sheet (teacher-assessed), Topic 2 Math Test Review and Keep at Home: Geo Quilts with art effort scores (for those who turned them in early), Science Discussion and note pages, Sea Creature paragraphs with convention challenge marks, October book orders Empty Monday Folder due back every Tuesday Goal for the Week: Be prepared for WTM every day and use zero volume to get there. Coming up this week in class: We're starting Walk-to-Math, learning how to take notes in our own words, evaluating online sources, sharing Create-a-Country projects, continuing our study of map skills as we start the "Off the Map" team challenge, finishing Porpoises in Peril while we focus on finding text evidence to support ideas, writing a 3-paragraph biography spotlight, and having our first Museo art class! Scholastic Reading Club Order: October fliers went home in today's take-home folders! To place an order, go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs, select "parent" and Continue. You'll need to create an account with your own user name and password (if you don’t have one yet), and use class activation code GPZ63 to connect to our class order. Books will be delivered in 1-2 weeks after the last day to order. As always, our class gets free books and materials with every online order placed. At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
