Goal for the Week: Be prepared for WTM every day and use zero volume to get there. The mystery word is value.
Coming up this week in class: We're starting Walk-to-Math, learning how to take notes in our own words, evaluating online sources, sharing Create-a-Country projects, continuing our study of map skills as we start the "Off the Map" team challenge, finishing Porpoises in Peril while we focus on finding text evidence to support ideas, writing a 3-paragraph biography spotlight, and having our first Museo art class!
Scholastic Reading Club Order: October fliers went home in today's take-home folders! To place an order, go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs, select "parent" and Continue. You'll need to create an account with your own user name and password (if you don’t have one yet), and use class activation code GPZ63 to connect to our class order. Books will be delivered in 1-2 weeks after the last day to order. As always, our class gets free books and materials with every online order placed. Thanks in advance for helping us expand our classroom library and programs! The last day to order books will be Monday, October 9th. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Volunteer Opportunities: Thank you for your support! Our classroom calendar is here: http://signup.com/go/bKMtZZx and shows Spots for those who volunteered for recurring volunteer times for the year. I appreciate all the folks who volunteered for at-home correcting! Thanks, again, for all you do to support children, teachers and learning!
Please visit our 4th grade blog…. http://cves4.weebly.com/
Homework: Please check the binder reminder (located in the front of the binder) to support your child’s homework habits. It is also posted on our classroom blog daily.
In our partnership to ensure success for your child, good communication is critical. If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me at larsone@svsd410.org. I’d love to hear from you and look forward to working with you this year.
With thanks,
