Dear 4th Grade Families,
This Thursday is the Walk-a-thon! Fourth graders wear PURPLE!! Please remind your student to wear their comfortable walking shoes (sneakers) and to bring a refillable water bottle. This week's goal: Carefully complete the revision checklist to improve my writing. Some items in tonight's Monday take-home folder: Sign and return: Weekly Update, Reading Log (in binder), Topic 1 Math Test Review and keep at home: Language quiz on adjectives, adjective packet, multiplication property poster, math fact tests Announcements Walk-a-thon Packets: Went home on Friday and are due October 17th (correction! sorry!) but sooner is better. Mystery Book Reports: students should already have their books approved and their packets initialed. More info is on the Mystery Book Report Project page. Create-a-Country (Required for Gravy Group or Optional for All Students): Info and Ideas on the Create-a-Country Project page (note: this is primarily an independent project, with little or no help given at school). Important Dates: 10/10 Walkathon (PTSA) Get your PURPLE ready!! 4th graders wear as much PURPLE as possible! 10/11 Create-a-Country due 10/17 Return walk-a-thon fundraising envelopes (sooner is better!) 10/25 Fall Festival (PTSA) 10/30 Mystery Book Report due 11/11 No School - Veterans Day 11/21 Individual Picture Re-takes 11/22-27 Parent Conferences 11/28-29 No School - Thanksgiving Holiday Coming Up This Week in Class: We'll be starting our Washington desk map project, improving reading fluency as we perform Readers Theater plays for our 2nd grade buddies, finishing Math Topic 2: Generate and Analyze Patterns, learning about the revision process as we complete our "Message in a Bottle" stories, adding adverbs to enrich our writing, and showing our best 4th grade purple spirit as we raise money for our school at the Walkathon! At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
