I loved all of the sweet cards, flowers, and goodies this morning! Your children were so thoughtful and so excited to bring them in. I'm so lucky to spend my days with such fantastic young people.
We have our first SBAC on Tuesday of this week, 5/3. The subject is ELA (English Language Arts). It would be great for your students to get a good night’s rest tonight, Monday, and to eat a healthy breakfast before school tomorrow. We will have time for a healthy snack during the morning testing as well. Thank you for encouraging your child during this testing!
Some items in this Monday's take-home folder:
Sign and return: updates (student self-assessed), April and May reading logs, Country Reports (half the class - look for second half coming home later this week)
Review and keep at home: Math practice pages, math fact tests, Scholastic book orders
Please read and review the wax museum assignment packet with your student and sign it for your child to show me by Thursday. Each student should be reading his/her biography book with a goal to finish it this week by Friday, May 6. Please see the wax museum assignment packet (attached) for specific guidelines. There is also a page on the 4th grade website with examples. This is a long term project with the checkpoints below.

We are using VolunteerSpot to coordinate volunteers. Please click on the link below.
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/UtRetk
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!
The mystery word is inference.
Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually. We need a lot of volunteers for this to be a successful day!
May volunteer calendar: attached to this week's email. Thanks again for all you do to support our class's learning - we couldn't do it without you!!! Please let me know if this time doesn't work. If your volunteer time falls on the morning of SBA testing, I will have items to work on out in the volunteer bins with (hopefully!) clear directions, but will not be available for clarification or explanation. Thank you for your flexibility and patience, and your support in providing our students with a quiet testing environment.
Coming Up This Week in Class: We are continuing Math Topic 15 (Geometry), revising country reports, continuing our social studies / reading Unit on Lewis and Clark, investigating Energy in science, performing Readers' Theater, and completing our first session of SBA testing!
