A BIG thanks to our PTSA and the Walkers for opening up and supporting this event at the North Bend Theatre!
I'm so proud of all the learning 4th graders have accomplished this trimester! Our upcoming week will be a busy one of final writing assignments, group presentations, and learning reflection. Thanks for all of your help and support of 4th grade learning!
This week's goal:
Speak slowly and clearly during my WA Regions presentation.
Some items in this Tuesday's take-home folder:
Sign and return: Weekly Update, Reading Log (in binder)
Review and keep at home: Crayfish illustrations, math fact tests, picture notes on beaver cause/effect, fall oil pastel leaves, simile/metaphor art, science review, writing pieces for the kids to read out loud and discuss with you, November book order fliers (last one before holiday break, if anyone is looking for presents), and ski bus flier
WA Topo Map: Our WA Topo map Gravy Group / Extra Credit project will be coming home this week! This project is required for Gravy Group students, and optional for all other students. All students will do a rough draft together in class this week (yes, this time it really will be this week, sorry!). Look for a packet to come home with the students, and check the WA Topo map page on the website for details/examples. Those who want to get started on this project over this long weekend could begin by collecting materials - clean pizza boxes are a popular option for a "base" that also has a protective lid, clay (can be made or purchased, colored or painted), labeling method and/or materials, and region boundary marking material. The directions in the packet (on the project page of the website, with paper copy coming home next week) should help for any excited students who want to start preparing. Student hands should be doing the work, and parent help/support is encouraged! I'm leaning toward a December 3rd due date at the moment (it won't be due before then).
