We have an exciting week of Science investigations, Potlatch performance, and Valentines friendship celebration ahead of us!
Some items in this Monday's take-home folder:
Sign and return: student self-assessed updates, February Reading Logs (in binders)
Review and keep at home: Math fact tests, Math practice pages (varies by walk-to-math class), Potlatch Invitations
Our goal for the week: "Speak slowly and clearly for my part in the Potlatch on Wednesday."
Don't forget to vote! See the attached letter for more information on the Bond, or check the district website here: http://www.svsd410.org/Page/4825 . Ballots must be postmarked by February 10th to be counted.
Save the date: Our Native American Potlatch Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, February 11 at 9:30 am in the multi-purpose room (families are invited … we need a patient and encouraging audience). Students should wear brown or tan if possible. The mystery word is: current. Thanks to all who volunteered to help out or donate supplies!
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated on Friday, 2/13 in Room 19.
All students will have a Valentine’s mail sack/bag made and decorated at school. No candy will be distributed at school. See attached name list and reminders to this week's email.
February Book Order: Today is the last day for February book orders! Fliers went home last week with a "free book" coupon on the front of each. Thanks for helping us to build our classroom library and get new materials! scholastic.com/readingclub
Family Field Trip suggestions: We are fortunate to have two wonderful museums close by that complement our Social Studies curriculum. I hope you will consider taking a family field trip or gathering a few friends together for a special afternoon/evening of learning. The first Thursday of every month is FREE and the museum is open late!!

The Seattle Art Museum has an amazing collection of Northwest Coast Native American artifacts.
Also, The Burke Museum on the University of Washington campus has a wonderful display of artifacts downstairs.

Box Top Fundraiser: Please turn in any box tops to the collection box at the front of the school, with the student's name, grade and class marked on the paper, baggie, or envelope. Last day for box top turn-in is 2/13/15. Thank you for supporting our CVES learning community!
February volunteer calendar: is attached to this week's email. Please let me know if you need any adjustments or can't be here on your day. Thanks again for all you do to support our class's learning - we couldn't do it without you!!!
Attendance Hotline: If your child will be missing school or tardy for any reason, please be sure to call the attendance hotline: 425-831-4108. Due to changes in the district's policy, if a student is absent and the attendance line has not been called, our school secretaries are required to call all the emergency contact numbers in that student's file until they can find a reason for the absence. Please call the attendance line!
