I look forward to seeing you next week on Monday evening (9/18) at 7 pm for Curriculum Night. In 30 minutes, I will attempt to give you an idea of what we do for 10 months in 4th grade and how we go about doing it! We will also sign up for November conferences; bring your calendar! See you then!
Important Dates:
9/18 Curriculum Night for 4th grade at 7 pm
9/27 Individual picture day for 4th grade
10/12 Walk-a-thon (from 10 – 11:15 am for 4th grade) WEAR PURPLE!

Goal for the Week: Write an excellent informational paragraph.
Monday Take Home Folders/Return to School every Tuesday:
Sign and Return: Signed and tallied Reading Log (in binders), Signed Weekly Update/Goal Sheet (starts next week)

Coming up this week in class: We're continuing Envision Math Topic 1 (Multiplication and Division Meaning and Facts), investigating how plants and animals use their structures to help them survive, learning and reviewing geography vocabulary by illustrating geography "quilts", reading Porpoises in Peril while we focus on finding text evidence to support ideas, the secret word is latitude, researching and writing about ocean creatures as we practice evaluating the quality of online sources, continuing to learn about classroom and school work and behavior expectations, playing our first round of Homeworkopoly, and taking part in our first class auction of the year!
Hurricane Harvey Coin Drive: During the month of September, CVES will be collecting coins, checks and currency in a large container in the school office. The dollars collected will be donated to the American Red Cross, and the kids can have fun watching the money pile up! Read the attached letter from Mr. Frazier for more information.
Volunteer Opportunities: Thank you for your support! As parents confirm their volunteer times I am adding them to the on-line volunteer management tool, SignUp.com. Thanks for your patience as I try out a new system! Our classroom calendar is here: http://signup.com/go/bKMtZZx. I appreciate all the folks who volunteered for at-home correcting! Watch for an email in the next day or two as I have a couple of at-home needs this week. Thanks, again, for all you do to support children, teachers and learning!
