Way to Go Seahawks!
Our potlatch has been rescheduled to Monday, February 10th at 1:45 in the MPR. A paper invitation with the revised time went home today, and the revised invitation is attached to this week's newsletter as well. Thank you for your flexibility and I hope everyone can join us!
Our goal this week: Use specific details to support my stated opinion in writing.
Some items in this Monday's take-home folder:
Sign and return: Teacher-assessed weekly updates, Topic 10 math tests from Ms. Larson's math class, reading logs (in binders)
Review and keep at home: Math fact tests, math practice packets, perspective art
Potlatch: Our Potlatch Ceremony is scheduled for Monday, February 10, at 1:45 pm in the multi-purpose room (families are invited … we need an audience). Thanks to all who are volunteering to help or provide for our "feast"! Students should wear "earth tones" like brown, blue, tan, or green without any writing or pictures if possible.
Free Family Field Trip Opportunities: Both the Seattle Art Museum (http://seattleartmuseum.org/) and the Burke Museum )http://www.burkemuseum.org/) have wonderful exhibits of Northwest Coast Native Americans. The first Thursday of every month, admission is FREE! So, next week on 2/6, why not grab your child and a few classmates and head into Seattle for a free museum visit which directly connects to our current Social Studies unit? Thanks for considering it!
Please see the attached flyer regarding Valentine’s Day in Room 19.
All students will have a Valentine’s mail sack/bag made and decorated at school. No candy will be distributed at school.
Newbery Book Report: An online copy of the packet, more information, and examples can be found on the project page of this website. Gravy group members are required to complete the extra portion in the back of the packet. Finished projects due February 11th.
