I'm so proud of how hard the students have been working over these first weeks of school! They are learning new routines and expectations, reviewing prior learning, and launching new fourth grade skills. Way to go fourth graders!
Our goal this week: Practice and pass at least one math fact test.
Curriculum Night: I look forward to seeing you on Thursday evening for Curriculum Night. In 45 minutes or less, I will attempt to give you an idea of what we do for 10 months in 4th grade and how we go about doing it! See you
there!
Email List: Please let me know if you need any emails added to this list or would like to be removed. Thanks for your patience as I get my contact lists sorted out this month! (A copy of this newsletter should have gone out to every email address that was provided on the student directory page.)
Monday Folders: We're really working on establishing our 4th grade routines and good homework habits! Monday folders went home today with our first Weekly updates of the year (pink this week). This week was a teacher assessed week, where I do my best to provide families and students with useful feedback on behavior and work habits during the previous week. Students always complete the "learning log" portion of the update, and every other week students will be assessing their own behavior and work habits. These should be returned every Tuesday with a parent signature. Reading logs should also be returned signed every Tuesday morning. It might be helpful to come up with a plan at home for how these signatures can be collected and returned work can be reviewed every Monday night. Thanks for helping support 4th grader responsibility and accountability!
Book Order: Our first Scholastic Book Club flier of the year went home today. Families who would like to order books can follow the online ordering directions stapled to the flier. Orders are done completely online, rather than by collecting and sending in checks. This Thursday (9/19) will be the last day to order. Please let me know if you have trouble ordering or have any questions. We get a free book for our classroom with every family's order - thanks for helping us build our classroom library! Volunteer Training Tomorrow, Tuesday Sept. 17th: Volunteer Training is scheduled for September 17th: 9:45 am 12:25 pm. This training is for all volunteers who are new to the school or folks who need a review. Please call 831-4100 to sign up for a training session or stop by the Main Office. If you have already gone through training and a background check, you are all set to volunteer for this year with no further training. We love our volunteers!
