CVES Wheels Unit!!! March 2nd-13th Helmets REQUIRED for participation in PE. From Mrs. Corder: Students will be riding unicycles, ripsticks, razor scooters, and go go pedal rollers. (The unicycles and ripsticks are for 3rd-5th grade.) If your child has forgotten their helmet, there will be a box in front of the gym. Please make sure your child’s helmet is labeled with their name. The office will not call into the classrooms. If you are not in the position to provide a helmet for your child, the PTSA has graciously offered to help. Thank you for your support! The upcoming PTSA Science and Engineering Fair is March 19. The event will start at 5 with exhibit set up and judging at 5:30. Online registration is now live at http://cvesptsa.org/sciencefairsignup. Coming up this week in class: Continuing our Eureka Math module on fractions, learning about the United States Government with our interactive notebooks, writing opinion essays, reading an informational text about Earthquakes, COGAT testing, and celebrating Read Across America! Volunteer Opportunities: We could use one more volunteer for the first session of our next Museo Art Lesson on Monday March 23rd. The project is weaving, so it's a lot of hands on fun and we've been given the heads up that students could use a bit of extra help with materials! Thank you! Counselor Corner Here at CVES, we spend a lot of time talking about Kindness. I truly believe that an emphasis on kindness is the key to solving bullying problems in school. In my lessons this week, we had great discussions about how and why to show kindness at school. Kindness can be small -like smiling, saying “hi”, or playing with someone new- but the impact can be huge for another student. Here were the key take-aways from the 4th grade lesson on Kindness this week:

At-Home Reading: Students should be reading 20 minutes a night. Monthly reading logs should stay in students' binders, and will be checked every Tuesday. Two nights a week students may use Lexia as their 20 minutes of reading. Archives
