Dear 4th Grade Families, For any who missed the news last week, as your children head to 5th grade next year, I will be joining them! I let the kids know before they left Friday that I want to take our entire class with me as we make the move out to the portables. We’ve been a great learning team, and it would be fabulous to continue to grow with the same group of students next year! I’m attaching the letter that will go home in today’s green folder that outlines the benefits and potential drawbacks of “looping” with the same teacher up to the next grade level. Please let myself or Mr. Wilson know if you have any questions or concerns, and we’re asking that you let us know by Thursday of this week if you are choosing to opt out. We absolutely understand that there are benefits to continuing with the same teacher and group, but also benefits to teacher and peer variety, and want every student to have a placement that will help them thrive and grow in 5th grade. (Important note: we are unable to take specific requests for alternate placements.)
We have our first SBAC on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, 5/9 and 5/10. The subject is ELA (English Language Arts). It would be great for your students to get a good night’s rest Monday and Tuesday nights, and eat good breakfasts. We will have time for a healthy snack during the morning testings as well. Thank you for encouraging your child during this testing!
