Students explored vocabulary words in a variety of ways using dictionary skills, writing, and art! Hello Fourth Grade Families,
****Please see the changes to our calendar below: new dates for Potlatch (5/23) and Wax Museum (6/7 tentative). Parents/Families are invited to both these showcases of student learning. These will be afternoon events; more specific times and information coming as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience!**** State standardized testing (SBAC) for 4th grade begins in May. Our testing dates are: May 9; 14; 15; 21; and 22. Please try not to schedule medical/dental appointments or vacations on these days! The mystery word is metric. Thank you! No Bus Passes for the Rest of the Year: We are down to one bus combining both of our routes so there is no space for extra kids to ride home with friends until the end of the year. Please let your families know about this. If kids are going home with a friend, parents will need to pick them up at school. Our classroom will become a village as students learn how people met their needs for food, shelter, and culture using the natural resources available in the Coast environment. WA Topo Map Project: Students have completed rough dafts of the at-home (optional but highly recommended) WA State Topographic Map project. See the project page for resources and examples! Writing: Students are working on informational/research writing, with an emphasis on writing a topic sentence, citing text evidence, using transition/connecting words and phrases, using domain specific vocabulary, and writing closing sentences. Conventions: We are working on correct punctuation for citing evidence in informational writing and using transition/linking phrases.
