On the Friday before spring break, our class had the opportunity to celebrate Arbor Day early thanks to Fourth Grade Foresters and Jeff Warren of State Farm Insurance. Thanks to their donation, students were able to plant over 130 trees and learn hands-on about how trees make our communities cleaner, greener, and better habitat for people and wildlife. We reflected on the experience, and here is a sampling from the student thank you cards. The first one is an excellent picture of Mr. Wilson in action with his shovel!
Students dropped a variety of objects to investigate the properties (pitch and volume) of the sounds produced. Later this week we'll be using tuning forks to learn more about sound energy and butter to learn about conductors and insulators of heat energy.
Hello Fourth Grade Families,

Wax Museum/Biography Report: It is almost time for the Wax Museum/Biography report! Although our wonderful CVES librarian will be helping our students find non-fiction books here, if your student has his/her heart set on a specific historical person, please feel free to go to the Snoqualmie Library (KCLS). Each student will need an expository (not narrative) biography book at or just below his/her reading level by Friday, April 25. Biography subjects must be deceased, and students must be able to explain how their chosen person made the world a better place. Ideas for possible subjects can be found here: http://www.ducksters.com/biography/ (Note: not every historical figure is a good subject for this report... think in terms of role models!) More Wax Museum guidelines will be coming home soon.
