We have SBAC on Tuesday this week. The subject is Math. It would be great for your students to get a good night’s rest and to eat a healthy breakfast before school tomorrow. We will have time for a healthy snack during the morning testing as well.Thank you for encouraging your child during this testing!

Review and keep at home: Math practice pages

6/9 Field Day
Science Donation Requests: Our class is working on a STEM challenge activity, and I'm looking for families willing to donate extra materials for the project. If anyone has any: bubble wrap, tinfoil, newspaper, or batting (like the inside of a quilt) they'd be willing to part with, please send it in with the kids tomorrow (Tuesday 5/16). The other request will take a bit more coordination... I'm looking for 27 popsicles to come to school next week (one for each student) that must at least be gluten-free and not have any artificial colors. Ideally they would be the type made with real juice. To meet our needs for a controlled science variable, they should all be the same brand. If you have or would be willing to purchase some, please email me with the brand, and we can make arrangements before next week, hopefully with multiple families chipping in. The mystery word is primary source. Thanks for considering!
Wax Museum / Biography: Students should have a tri-fold board for the Wax Museum project, with the student’s name on it, and bring it to school by Wednesday, May 18. If a family would prefer, I can provide poster board for students as well.
Please see the wax museum assignment packet (attached) for specific guidelines. There is also a page on the 4th grade website with examples. This is a long term project with the checkpoints below.

We are using VolunteerSpot to coordinate volunteers. Please click on the link below.
Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot: http://vols.pt/UtRetk
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!
Note: VolunteerSpot does not share your email address with anyone. If you prefer not to use your email address, please contact me and I can sign you up manually. We need a lot of volunteers for this to be a successful day!
May volunteer calendar: attached to this week's email. Thanks again for all you do to support our class's learning - we couldn't do it without you!!! Please let me know if this time doesn't work. If your volunteer time falls on the morning of SBA testing, I will have items to work on out in the volunteer bins with (hopefully!) clear directions, but will not be available for clarification or explanation. Thank you for your flexibility and patience, and your support in providing our students with a quiet testing environment.
Coming Up This Week in Class: We are completing country reports and biography report rough drafts, designing insulating devices to keep popsicles cold, creating maps and timelines of the Lewis & Clark expedition, reviewing and testing on Lewis & Clark learning, finishing topic 16 / reviewing math SBA vocabulary / practicing problem solving in math, completing our third session of SBA testing, and starting Wax Museum posters in school (to be taken home and finished)!
